Filleigh is a small village in North Devon

Castle Hill is a privately owned Palladian House built in 1730 by Hugh Fortescue
, Lord Clinton, as his family home. In 1749 Hugh Clinton became 1st Earl Fortescue
of Castle Hill.
The house, surrounded by parklands (which are occasionally opened to the public) and a 5500 acres (22.3 km²) agricultural estate borders the village.
In 1873, the Devon and Somerset Railway opened a line from Taunton
to Barnstaple
, including a station at Filleigh. This became part of the Great Western Railway
in 1901, and closed in 1966.
Storms and severe flooding in August 1952 lead to the Lynmouth Flood Disaster
At the same time, three Scouts
were lost while camping beside the River Bray close to the village.
