The resort has 10 lifts servicing 140 named runs plus 5 alpine bowls and tree skiing with a vertical drop of 1082 metres (3,549.9 ft). The resort has over 10.1 square kilometres (2,495.8 acre) of skiable terrain. The average annual snowfall is 875 centimetres (28.7 ft).

History

Fernie Alpine Resort was originally called "Fernie Snow Valley" before being sold in 1997 to RCR (Resort of the Canadian Rockies). RCR saw some financial trouble under owner Charlie Locke

Bowls

Fernie Alpine Resort has 5 legendary bowls along the Lizard Range. Siberia Bowl, Cedar Bowl, Timber Bowl, Currie Bowl, and the Lizard bowl. Fernie is known for its amazing powder and thats why it is rated one of the top 5 resorts in Canada

Lifts

Fernie alpine resort has 10 ski lifts, on the old side of the mountain there are 5 ski lifts, the Deer Chair which is a 3 person chair, the Elk chair is a four person chair, the great bear chair is a high speed quad, the boomerang is a 3 person chair, and the haulback is a t-bar. On the new side of the mountain there are two chairs The Timber Express Chair which is a high speed quad, and the White Pass chair which takes you to the highest.
New in the 2011.2012 Ski Season, Fernie Alpine Resort added a lift to the Summit in Currie Bowl called the NEW Polar Peak lift.

Lost Boys

Fernie, BC – September 15th, 2006 – The views will take your breath away at the new Lost Boys Café, Fernie Alpine Resort’s newest on-mountain addition for the 2006-2007 ski season. The Lost Boys Lungbuster is the ultimate challenge for hard core climbers. This challenging mountain bike race starts at the base area of the Fernie Alpine Resort & climbs to the top of the Timber Express Chairlift - 640 vertical metres (2,100 ft).
