 matches. They played their first international against Chile in February 2004, and gained affiliate membership of the International Cricket Council

 on 29 June 2007. The decision to admit them was not unanimous, with Argentina abstaining from the vote.

The Falklands participated in their first ICC-sanctioned international tournament when they took part in the inaugural ICC Americas Championship Division Four tournament in Mexico from 13-19 June 2010.
The team won its first match in the tournament, beating Costa Rica by 39 runs in a 50 over match (Falkland Islands 131 all out in 38.3 overs - Costa Rica 92 all out in 28.5 overs). Team captain, Elliott Taylforth, was Man of the Match, taking 6 wickets for 14 runs (including a hat-trick).

There are plans to construct the Islands' second cricket pitch, which will be built in Stanley
