in "Fairview, USA"; the ZIP code for Wisteria Lane
in Fairview, ES is 00057 (season five); the ZIP code for the police department is 29102 and its area code is 456 (season one). Zip codes beginning with 29 are in South Carolina. The area code 456 is meant for International Inbound Calls.
Fairview is possibly southern, as the weather is generally warm, and "it doesn't rain very often, but when it does, it pours". No cold or snowy weather has been seen. However, Fairview and the vicinity have experienced violent tornadoes. Fairview is also situated on an ocean coastline and has a marina. The surrounding area seems to be hills, woodland, ponds, nearby lakes (Rockwater Lake and Torch Lake) and within a day's driving distance of rugged, mountainous desert terrain.
In the pilot, Bree's family has dinner at Saddle Ranch Chop House. At the time, the only two locations were in West Hollywood, CA and Universal City Walk, both in Southern California.
In Season 1, Episode 15, "Impossible", Tom gets Tim Dugan's promotion after Tim had a heart attack. Tom got the whole West Coast, and Lynette was shocked, and Tom said "It's a little more travel."
In season 2, Lonny Moon tells Susan Mayer
that his wife and kids are "up in Minnesota," implying Fairview and Eagle State are south of Minnesota. At the end of season one in the flashback that reveals Mary Alice Young
's secret, Felicia Tilman, while in Salt Lake City, Utah, says that she has family "way out in Fairview," implying that Fairview is a major town some distance away from Utah.
In Season 2, episode 7, Gabrielle notes that her modeling friends are coming down from New York, implying that Fairview is south of New York.
In Season 2, episode 7, (“Color and Light”) Gabrielle is taken to Hospital in a Schaefer Ambulance. Schaefer operates ambulances only in Southern California, implying that Fairview is in Southern California.
In season 2, episode 18, Elanor announces to Bree that her and Bree's father are taking Andrew back to Rhode Island with them, ruling out Fairview being in Rhode Island. However in the same episode it is said that Elanor and Bree's father only found out about Bree and Andrew's court case the day before suggesting Fairview is located in a state close to Rhode Island as they were able to arrive so quickly.
On Season 2’s episode "Remember" Susan gives Mike a card telling him where they're supposed to be going, and she draws an LA map on it.
New neighbors in the show such as Katherine Mayfair and Betty Applewhite have moved to Wisteria Lane from Chicago. As well as this, Bob and Lee came from New York looking to live a suburban life. It is unlikely they'd move far from the state of New York which is on the east coast of the USA. Furthermore, Bob and Lee have friends from Chicago who informed them of Katherine Mayfair's reasons for leaving Chicago. Also, local news stations have reported news from Chicago, implying that Fairview is not very far from Illinois.
In Season 3, Episode 16, "My Husband, the Pig," Mike Delfino hands a check to Susan Meyer's boyfriend Ian Hainsworth which states his address as being 4356 Wisteria Lane Fairview, ES 910274. The check is from the bank, "City Trust & Savings Bank" which has 7 locations, all in Louisiana.
Mt. Vernon is mentioned in season 3, episode 21. It is mentioned as being nearby. Mt. Vernon is a small town in Northwest Washington, and also in Illinois and Iowa.
Several times, throughout seasons 4 and 5, six various characters mention states "back east", suggesting Fairview is located on, or close to, the west coast of the USA.
In Season 6, Episode 8, "The Coffee Cup," a state seal in the courtroom behind the judge has 1876 on it. The only state admitted to the Union in 1876 was Colorado.
In Season 6, episode 7, ("Careful the Things You Say"), one of Bree's potential clients comments that his family is coming "up from the Bronx" for his anniversary party. Thus implying that Fairview is actually north of New York.
In season 6, episode 20 ("Epiphany
"), a newspaper article with the headline "Fairview Murders Continue" mentions a body found near "the Eagle State line"; the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducting an autopsy in Savannah; the victim's father speaking to The Florida Times-Union
(Jacksonville, FL
); and Orange Park
(a suburb of Jacksonville).
In season 7, episode 6, Brian Austin Green's Keith Watson character receives a piece of mail from the Eagle State Department of Corrections which is addressed to "492 West Lincoln Avenue, Fairview, ES 00057-23423". The presorted postmark reads "Grand Prairie."
In season 7, episode 15, "Farewell Letter
", Keith suggests going to Florida to be with Charlie, who had moved by plane.
In season 7, episode 16, "Searching"
, Susan and Mike are making love in a park when they are interrupted by Civil War reenactors who are reenacting the Battle of Fredericksburg
, which seems to suggest that Fairview is near Fredericksburg, Virginia
or, at least, somewhere in the south
.
In season 8 Carlos goes to Mike Delfino's house to apologize for the situation in which he envolved Susan; at his back we can a Suv with a "ORH" plate; ORH is the Airport code of Worcester, Massachussets; in this state we also find another Fairview and even a Wisteria Lane.
Sometimes the state of Mississippi has been called The Eagle State, although it is usually known as The Magnolia State.
Martha Huber's Missing Persons Flyer says she was last seen on December 12, 2004. Yet all weather of the surrounding episodes do not depict any winter weather at all. This could strongly suggest that Fairview is in a region where it doesn't snow.
A local television station bears call letters KQRY, implying that Fairview is west of the Mississippi River.
Also, in the episode where Jackson is going out to eat with Mike Delfino, Susan preps conversation topics with Jackson, and mentions that he should "like" the Indianapolis Colts to get in good with Mike. This could imply they live in or by Indianapolis, Indiana.
