Early days (1913 - 1941)

As the oldest Montenegrin football club, Lovćen participated in first national competitions at 1910's and 1920s. Until the World War II

, Lovćen won five Montenegrin championships (1927, 1928, 1929, 1934, 1935) and seven City Championships of Cetinje. During that era, Lovćen have strong rivals in another club from Cetinje - SK Crnogorac, and in two clubs from Podgorica

 - RSK Budućnost and GSK Balšić. That four teams were the best football clubs in Montenegro before WWII.

Post-war period (1945 - 1960)

With FK Budućnost (Podgorica), FK Sutjeska (Nikšić) and FK Arsenal (Tivat), Lovćen was member of first Montenegrin football championship after War, and last one until the independence of Montenegro (2006). It was season 1946, when "Lovćen" was second on the table, after champion - Budućnost.
After that, in summer 1946, "Lovćen" played qualifications for First league of SFR Yugoslavia, but didn't succeed. Lovćen made same succes at the 1956 and 1957, when the club participated in qualifiers for First league. One more big success of Lovćen was in 1947, by winning the Youth Championship title of Yugoslavia.

SFRY era (1960 - 1992)

Until the collapse of Yugoslavia, Lovćen usually participated in Yugoslav Second league. Montenegrins oldest club played 552 games in that competition. Best performance in a unite Yugoslav Second division was achieved in the 1954/55 season, when together with seven wins, two draws and nine defeats secured sixth place in the standings. The most successful season, however, is 1968/69 - Lovćen won fourth place with a score of 12-11-7. After Budućnost and Sutjeska, Lovćen was most successful Montenegrin club at that time.

FRY / SCG era (1992 - 2006)

In the federal state of Serbia and Montenegro (first named as FR Yugoslavia, and after Federation of Serbia and Montenegro), Lovćen played in second and third league. For the few seasons, club was the winner of Montenegrin cup.

Independent Montenegro (2006 - today)

First match in the First league, Lovćen played at 11 August 2007. against OFK Petrovac in Cetinje - 2:2, with attendance od 3.000 supporters. In 2009. , for the first time since the independence, Lovćen appeared in the final Cup of Montenegro, when they lost game against OFK Petrovac. Before that match, in semifinals, Lovćen eliminated FK Budućnost.

Today, Lovćen is permanent member of Montenegrin First League.

Supporters

Supporters' group of FK Lovćen is named "Orlovi" ("Eagles"). During the 1990s, they followed every single match of Lovćen at the home side, and their most known match at the guest side were at 2001, at the final game of Montenegrin Cup against FK Kom. At the northern stand of stadium in Podgorica were few hundreds of "Eagles". Today, supporters' group is still active, but they are not organised at football matches.
