Athletics

Essex County College teams are represented in the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and Region 19 of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Its teams have produced All-Americans in soccer, men's and women's basketball, cross country, and indoor and outdoor track.

Recent History

Less than a year into the job, President Edythe Abdullah came under scrutiny after her questioning of the college's tenure policy. She was issued a staggering 101-6 vote of no-confidence by the college's faculty. Professors presented Abdullah with a three-page list of complaints about her leadership, calling her "unresponsive, indecisive, untimely and an untrustworthy administrator."
