It was at the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver at the 1988 U.S. National Championships that Robin Cousins choreographed his standing ovation long program. While training at The Broadmoor in 1989 in Colorado Springs, Erik invented "The Larson Spin".http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8ZFsL_fezs. The following year at the 1989 U.S. Nationals Erik placed 3rd in the short program and became a World Team Alternate. The town of St.Paul Minn. hosted the 1990 Olympic Festival Championships and with the help of the Great Carlo Fassi and child ice Follies star Janet Champion he clinched the gold, beating his nemesis the 1985 U.S. National Junior Champion Doug Mattis. After his competitive career was over do to an ankle injury, he starred as "Buttons the cellar boy" in Dorothy Hamill's Ice Capades "Cinderella Frozen in time".http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSJLRJrYCCA. There were numerous other tours like Gershwin on Ice with Peggy Fleming, The Osmond Brothers tour in Las Vegas. Currently Erik is teaching at The Palm Beach Skate Zone with his wife Rosie and they have one child, he is also the owner of BellaICE Skating Events.com.
