Emerging Sounds

Emerging Sounds was a music promotions company that supported the Mid-Atlantic Music Scene
in the late 90s to mid 2000s. The company was a music-first believer for unsigned bands. Emerging Sounds organized street team
s, merchandising and online promotions for bands. Created in order for the musicians to focus on creating their music and leaving the business of getting the name known and out there to labels and fans.
Emerging Sounds referred bands to the now defunct website and television show Farmclub.com. Farmclub
was a music television show that aired on Monday nights 11pm EST after Monday night's World Wrestling Entertainment
(WWE) RAW
program. Bands such as SEV, Dog Fashion Disco, and SPiNE were three of the success stories from this venture. All three were featured as unsigned bands from the Mid-Atlantic Music scene and were subsequently signed to major labels
.
The president and creator of Emerging Sounds, Andrea Baker, created the company in 1999 after seeing bands she liked struggling with mundane jobs such as selling merchandise and flyer promotion for their own shows. Her idea was to create a company that would do this for bands that were in need of such help. The Emerging Sounds company organized college and high school students, as well as the music faithful to become intern
s and branches of the organization to spread the music.
Emerging Sounds teamed up with East Coast
magazine publication, Unsung Hero
, in the 2000s to support local artists at music venues and the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
. In addition to supporting local music, Emerging Sounds also created food and clothing drives during the holiday seasons to support homeless and underprivileged families.
While short lived, the success of the efforts of Emerging Sounds and their interns can still be seen today on a local and national level.
