 received 88.2% of the vote (38,250 votes), with the United Democratic Movement (UDM) coming second with a share of 7.6% (3,313 votes). The 3rd biggest part was the, Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), which gained 2.0% and 882 votes. The official opposition to the ANC nationally, the DA (Democratic Alliance), received only 314 votes, and therefore 0.7%.

2009 general election

In the 2009 South African general election, the ANC's percentage fell to 83.6% (35,613 votes), with a new party, COPE
