Testing Positive for Doping

2002 Central American & Caribbean Games Gold Medalist before being disqualified due to testing positive for doping. The substance found is called Lasix, a diuretic used to lose weight.

Pro career

Elio turned Professional in 2004 and signed with Antonio Tineo to manage his career and Don King to promote his career.

He scored 19 straight victories. His first and only setback came in 2007. A controversial loss by split decision to Mexican fighter Gamiel Diaz in Mexico.

On September 13, 2008, he won against Hector Velasquez in a WBC challenger elimination.

On July 14, 2009, Elio Rojas then traveled to Japan to fight the WBC featherweight champion, Takahiro Aho which he won in a unanimous decision.

Elio Rojas signed to unifying the featherweight title and signed a fight with Yuriorkis Gamboa only to injure his hand prior to the fight.

Elio Rojas is now healthy and will be fighting within the next few months
