One of the first tasks of the new Parliament will be to elect the President of Murcia from among their number. Ramón Luis Valcárcel of the PP, incumbent since 1995, is seeking re-election.

Electoral districts

The five electoral districts are numbered one to five, but are also known by geographic descriptors. Following a review of the electoral law, the third district, Murcia, gained a seat at the expense of the second district.
