. The college has trialled a fingerprint recognition system, which teachers have proclaimed to be moderately successful. As well as A-level subjects, students can also follow a GNVQ course, which is an "equivalent" to four GCSEs. The college is within the top 10% of A-level providers in Great Britain and for this reason the school has begun construction of a new sixth form centre building to allow for the expected increase in student numbers. The new sixth form building was promised for students entering sixth form 2 years ago but construction has been delayed due to planning permission and red tape.

The new six form centre opened in September 2010. The sixth form centre provides Sixth forms with state-of-the-art facilities to improve their learning.
