He began compiling a national top 40 from 5 October 1966, later he wrote record reviews and by 1973 became its editor. After Go-Set was taken-over in 1974, Nimmervoll began Juke magazine, which was published weekly from 1975 until 1992. Nimmervoll was involved in creating Take 40 Australia a local radio version of American Top 40
