Jerse, who has served as a member of Euclid's city council, has served in the Ohio House in 1995 and was the ranking minority member of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations. He is an adjunct professor of law at Case Western University. Jerse's term in the House of Representatives ended in January 2005. Jerse served as Assistant Prosecutor with the City of Euclid, during 2005-06.

In Fall 2005, Ed Jerse served as campaign manager for the Reform Ohio Now ballot initiatives that tried to limit the role of the Ohio Secretary of State in elections. Dubbed a good government initiative, all of them were defeated decisively at the polls.

Ed Jerse currently serves as Director of Legislative Affairs for the Ohio Department of Development.

Jerse studied at John Carroll University finally gaining his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and his law degree from Harvard University.
