The Ecuadorian population census is conducted by the governmental institution called INEC Instituto Nacional de Estadisticas y Censos (National Institute of Statistics and Census). The census in Ecuador
is conducted every ten years. Its objective is to obtain the number of people residing within its borders. The current census now includes household information.
The recent census attempted to reach the rural and most remote sectors in emphasis to map the most accurate population count in Ecuador. The census was conducted between November and December 2010, and its results were presented on January 27, 2011.
