, one of the most beautiful regions in the western part of France, 2 hours from Paris by TGV fast train. It is regarded by the national press as being one of the best places to live among France's largest cities. With a population of 350,000, including 60,000 students, for the international student, Rennes offers the full advantages of a large city while at the same time being convivial in size. Rennes sets the pace in Brittany's regional development, benefiting from a dynamic economic environment: telecommunications, new technologies, tourism, transport, logistics and services, etc. Rennes has earned itself an excellent reputation in several high tech research areas, such as cellular biology, computing and telecommunications.

The school provides modern facilities equipped with new technology, open 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. The distinguishing feature of the business school is a covered in-house walkway "Rue des Entrepreneurs", lined up with palm trees. Research Centers

ESC Rennes has three research centers in France carrying out academic research:
  • Center for Responsible Business

As a number of major crises have already broken out (not only in the financial sphere) and others are still before us (e.g. the effects of climate change, the consequences of the peak oil, and the shortage of food and water resources), numerous voices question the relevance of corporate policies, and suggest that the business community should adopt new roles beyond its economic functions. While consumer groups are increasingly expecting companies to adopt socially responsible behaviours, new regulations and extra-financial rating agencies invite them to take environmental, societal, governance and ethical issues seriously into account. Doing business in a responsible way meets the demands of all these stakeholders and may generate a competitive advantage for proactive companies; on that assumption, ESC Rennes School of Business decided to launch the Centre for Responsible Business in 2007.
  • Center of Technology and Innovation Management

For the last decade the business world has been facing shortening cycles which for the most part result from faster disruptive technological change. As Jack Welch once said “innovate or die,” implying that innovation – often driven by technology – has become the sole key success factor for sustainable competitive advantage. Consequently, technology and innovation management has become one of the principal activities and priorities for firms that strive for sustainability.
  • The Luxury Center

The business of luxury emerged in the past few decades as a distinct sector of human endeavour, with its own intricate expertise in management and its own knowledge base. It is poised for a truly spectacular development, with massive growth of the international consumer base. France has been from the start the global hub of this business sector. Yet academic resources on the subject are rare and fragmented, especially for the international professional. It is on this foundation that ESC Rennes School of Business established its Luxury Center. It is dedicated to research, including action research or practical consulting in applied situations, and to education of future luxury managers.
