To assist businesses in the region with their training needs Advance TAFE provides a commercial training consultancy service, South East Australian Training Services (SEATS) with offices in Bairnsdale and Sale. East Gippsland TAFE and Gippstafe also run as a partnership the TAFE Work Safety Centre.

History

East Gippsland TAFE had its origins in early technical and vocational education during the late nineteenth century in the Bairnsdale School of Mines and the Sale and Bairnsdale Technical Schools.

East Gippsland TAFE signed an affiliation agreement with RMIT University on 4 February 2003.
In november 2011 East gippsland TAFE changed their name to Advance TAFE.

Campuses

The institute’s main campus is located at Bairnsdale which also contains the Flexible Learning Centre, and the Bairnsdale Trade Centre.

There are two campuses at Lakes Entrance: Forestech and the South East Australia Maritime Education Centre (SEAMEC). Forestech provides a specialised focus on careers based on living resources such as forestry, fishing and ecotourism. SEAMEC was established in 1989 and has become a nationally renowned training provider known for its specialist expertise, industry links in fishing, maritime, recreational boating and aquaculture. The Marine research and education centre is located on Bullock Island at Lakes Entrance with research done in conjunction with RMIT University.

At Sale there is a campus at Princes Highway, Fulham, as well as a Farm at Drome Road, Flexible Learning Centre and an office of the South East Australia Training Services(SEATS) training consultancy.
