easily won a majority of the popular vote in the state.
Stenberg left office as Attorney General in 2003 and returned to work in the private sector as of counsel

In 2006, Stenberg launched his third bid for the Senate. Once again, an early frontrunner, he came second in the primary to former Ameritrade

He first ran for Nebraska Attorney General in 1986, but lost the primary by 6 points to Robert M. Spire.
