. In July 2007, following the takeover of Manchester City by Thaksin Shinawatra
, Tueart was sacked as a director, ending a 33 year association as a player and director with the club. Tueart was accused of "losing dignity" in the way that he responded to his dismissal and City supporters reacted angrily to his complaint that he had only been offered complimentary tickets in the stand and not in the Directors' Box.
He made his Derry debut in their first game back in the senior football in 13 years in 1985.
