. Dr. Raphael received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 1975. He completed his M.Sc. in 1974 (State University of New York) and B.Sc. in 1972 (Brooklyn College of New York).

He manages the 1300 member Social Determinants of Health Listserv at York University. Professor Raphael was the recipient of the 2009-2010 York University Faculty of Health Dean's Award in the Research — Established Career Category.
