on February 23, 2010, when 32 year old Bruco Eastwood entered Deer Creek Middle School and checked in for an appointment, and then left. He took a single shot high-powered hunting rifle from the trunk of his car and returned to the school, and then opened fire, wounding one female seventh grade student and one male eighth grade student. The eighth grader was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition for about 4 days. The seventh grader was released from the hospital later on that night after the shooting happened. Eastwood was taken down by Deer Creek Middle School math teacher David Benke and was taken into custody by the police.
