History

Deafening Silence originally formed in 2003 when brothers Steve and Stew Coventry started jamming with friend and drummer Amanda Neubauer, also bringing in Josh Greiger to play guitar. After playing together for a few months, vocalist Steve had written several songs and the band decided to put together a demo.

In 2004 Deafening Silence was in need of another layer so a second guitarist was sought after. It was at this time that Mickey Bethune joined the band and work began on their debut CD 'Destruction is Creation' which was launched in November 2005.

During 2008 Deafening Silence worked on new material and eventually took to the studio once again to record their second CD release.

2009 saw Deafening Silence rejoin the Adelaide metal scene, playing their first live show in almost a year on January 3 at the Crown and Anchor hotel.
On March 5, the band took part in a showcase performance as part of the Fuse Festival. This also marked their industry launch of their sophomore CD 'Fear is a Mind Killer' capturing a side of metal not heard before. Fear is a Mind Killer was released in stores on March 7, 2009.
