In 1976 he married Stockard Channing and was Executive Producer of "The Stockard Channing Show" on CBS for two seasons. They were divorced in 1980. In 1986 he married international model and actress Ingrid Boulting, who starred opposite Robert DeNiro in Elia Kazan's "The Last Tycoon."

After his Hollywood years, Debin turned to writing books. His mystery series, featuring the character Albie Marx in three books, focused on life in Los Angeles
