The David Becker Tribune (DBT) is an American contemporary jazz band. The band is led by namesake David Becker, who is the guitarist and composer.

History

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, they released several critically acclaimed recordings while touring the US extensively. DBT's first label was MCA

 which released 2 recordings including the jazz radio chart topper Siberian Express which was co-produced by Ken Caillat

. The band moved onto Bluemoon Records in the early 90s releasing 2 more recordings. In 1992, Becker along with his brother Bruce, drummer, relocated to Europe where they continued to perform and record.

In 2000, the DBT re-emerged in the US with a DVD audio recording Germerica. More was heard from the band with 2004's "Where's Henning" which managed to make it to the Jazz radio charts. A solo venture Euroland and a duo with Jazz guitar great Joe Diorio

 "The Color of Sound" [Acoustic Music Records] followed in 2005. In 2007, the critically acclaimed CD Leaving Argentina was released in Europe and followed in the USA in 2008. The band has been more actively touring the USA, as well as South America and Europe. Becker can also be heard on two tracks of the new Colbie Caillat

 recording Breakthrough released in August 2009.

Batavia was released world wide on August 6, 2010 to coincide with 65th anniversary of the dropping of the Atom bomb in Japan. All of the compositions on this recording have been directly influenced by or written about the experiences of Becker's mother’s (who is Dutch) family in Indonesia and their internment in a Japanese concentration camp during WWII.
