95.8 Capital FM Antics

His show included a variety of hits along with audience participation in the form of games, comedy based debates and opinion polls. Kelly had invented games on air like "Neil or No Neil", "Singing into a Plastic Cup" and "Scissors, Paper, Stone: On the Phone" which he refers to as "S.P.S.O.T.P". This game has been moved to his current drivetime slot. Kelly refers to his games and radio antics as "Radio Gold" and tests his listeners and game contestants before each game to check if they know the game is Radio Gold. He also asks the listener to rate the game from one to ten - if they say a number above 11 they get a "ding" signifying his approval. His games all had jingles.

Neil or No Neil

Neil or No Neil is a game described as radio gold. It is the brain child of Dave Kelly and involves a fun jingle and a phone. Kelly calls a number from the American phone book which has the first initial "N". If the person answering is called Neil or knows a Neil they could put Dave through to, the contestant has won the game. If the caller hangs up, Kelly will often call back. In the past, Kelly has attempted to replace Neil or No Neil with Meal or No Meal which involved calling an anonymous American

and inquiring whether the caller had eaten dinner. It was coined as Radio Tin. The jingle to this game was a thick American accent welcoming listeners to the show followed by a few celebratory "woops". Neil or No Neil Airs every weekday afternoon after 5pm on Radio City 96.7

Scissors, Paper, Stone: On the Phone!

Scissors, Paper, Stone: On the Phone! is a radio gold categorised game. It involved Kelly and different listeners battling it out to win a best out of three game of rock, paper, scissors. Kelly rarely wins the matches and does not take it in good heart, if he wins he is sure to maximise his victory with an edited version of Queen's We are the Champions and force the listener to hear it and admit that Kelly had won. He has been quoted as saying that it is called Scissors, Paper, Stone: On the Phone instead of the usual Rock, Paper, Scissors': On the Phone, because "It needs to rhyme!" If Dave wins Kelly expects you to give him a present. It's on Radio City 96.7

Chicken and egg fried rice, Price is right.

Chicken and egg fried rice, Price is right" is another radio gold categorised game. Kelly will ring up a Chinese takeaway in a certain city. Once through on the phone he will ask for the price of Chicken and egg fried rice. Then after this Kelly will ask a listener who has called in, whether or not they think Chicken and egg fried rice at the next Chinese takeaway take away will be higher or lower. Kelly will then ring up the next takeaway to find out the price. If the listener has guessed correctly whether or not they think the Chicken and egg fried rice at will be higher or lower, then they win. This game is played in a similar format to The price is right
