Early life

Daniel grew up in Dunedin

 in New Zealand. From the age of 10 onwards he trained in Tae Kwon-Do and in 2002 was the winner of a gold medal at the I.T.F Tae Kwon-Do Gold Medallist World Championship in Puerto Rico.

Career in Thailand

In 2004 Daniel spent 2 months in Thailand training at the Lanna Muay Thai gym out of Chiang Mai northern Thailand. The same year he travelled to England where he spent the next year training and fighting out of Black Country Kickboxing and K-Star Muay Thai in Birmingham before returning to Thailand. As of 2011 he has spend a combined total of over 4 years training and fighting in Thailand.

Career in Australia

In 2005 while training in Thailand, he fought in Australia. His first fight against Danny “DDD” Derdowski which result in a KO victory by Daniel. In 2006 he fought Eugene Ekkelboom but lost on a close points decision.

MMA

In August 2010, Daniel fought in his first MMA fight at TUFFA 6 in Newcastle, New South Wales

 where he defeated Lon Rose via TKO. Later that same month he had another fight against Steve Cook in Campbelltown, New South Wales

 where he won the 86 kg TUFFA title via TKO. In March 2011 he defended his belt against Steven Micallef in Niagra Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Steven won via Rear Naked Choke.
