Amenities

The village pub is 'The White Swan'; it lies in the centre of the village, opposite the small village green. The pub was closed by the owners in October 2008, was repossessed, and has recently been sold, refurbished and has resumed business in early 2010.

There is a Village Hall which is used for community activities and social functions.

The village church is known simply as Danby Wiske Parish Church and is a Grade 1 Listed Building. The doorway dates from Norman

History

The estate of Danby Wiske was owned by the Calvert family; their most famous son was George Calvert, founder of the state of Maryland
