Based from his hand-to-hand combat experience after his enlistment from the Air Force, his boxing style has tremendously correlated with his mixed martial arts experience, even though he had a detrimental lose to Jeet Kun Do fighter Ben Saunders.

Mixed martial arts career

Upon his honorable discharge in 2005 after a tour in Pakistan he moved back to Idaho with his wife and began training while working for the Rupert Fire Department.
