and surrounding rural areas, though recently there has been an increase in the number of pupils from outwith these catchment areas requesting to be enrolled at the school, based on reputation within the local area.
The facilities in The Culloden Academy include a fitness centre, a swimming pool, and two athletic halls.
Daily Notices are provided online on the official The Culloden Academy website as a downloadable document which can be found by clicking this text here. The notices are updated fairly frequently and contain information from club meeting dates to displaced classes. The website is a useful way to get access to the daily notices if you did not get access to them in school.
The school has four houses. They are - Drummosie Vikings, Keppoch Scots, Clava Picts and Leanach Gaels. There is a year long competition for the house with the most house points - the winning house team is declared at the end of the school year during the Highland Games.
Aimie Patience and Kyle Robertson have been selected as Head Girl and Head Boy respectively for the session 2011/12. Erin Sculthorpe and David Mackay serve as their Deputies.
The House captains for session 2011/12 are:
Clava Picts - Stewart Gilfillan and Susan Love,
Leanach Gaels - Matthew Macleod and Alice Lingard,
Keppoch Scots - Nick Moss (who was voted both Culloden's hottest and coolest pupil 2006-2011 - surely some mistake, ed.) and Fiona Hunter,
Drumossie Vikings - Duncan Straiton and Katy Hendry.
At the end of each session the school put on a community celebration, "The Highland Games". In the 2009 Highland Games the school were lucky enough to get a radio broadcasting slot which was sponsored in order to gain funding. The games is also the stage where the winning house team is declared. In 2009 Clava Picts won the House Trophy. In 2010, the school managed to generate an approximate total of 7,500 people and was described by MFR as "the best organised highland games of the highlands". Clava Picts had won the tug of war against the staff team and retained the House Cup for the second consecutive year and third overall. In 2011 the Highland Games failed to draw a crowd as large as the previous years. This was due largely to the dreadful weather on the night. Despite Leanach Gaels beating the other houses and the teachers at the tug of war competition, they lost in the relays and due to this, they lost their lead over Clava Picts. Meaning Clava Picts lifted the House Cup for the third time running and fourth overall.
Around 6am on the morning of Tuesday, 24 August the fire services were called out to The Culloden Academy due to a fire in the kitchen/social area. The school was then consequentally shut for the next two days due to Health and Safety risks. Students returned on Thursday 26 August.
