The School was purpose built to meet the needs of the growing community and opened as a new school in 1983. It has approximately 700 pupils, but was only originally intended to hold 550, this has led to some overcrowding issues which, fortunately the school has met head on; expanding the main building, installing new IT devices throughout the complex, and building a larger more modern "6th form block" for students studying for A/As levels.
