Parnham sustained a near-fatal throat injury in 2002, when he was caught in the throat by a flying stick while playing for England

 in Malaysia. His larynx required rebuilding. Parnham previously had a singing voice akin to Katherine Jenkins however this skill was unfortunately lost after the injury. He has previously had a double hernia and more recently undergone botox and chemical peeling procedures. Parnham made his debut for England in 1995, playing in Auckland
