On 9 October 2007 one person was killed and eight were injured in an explosion at a weapons factory belonging to Italian company Simmel Difesa

The Twentieth Century

The development of the town began as early as 1912 with the conversion of a long disused factory (the Valsacco company factory) to one of Explosive. The first group of houses were not located where the town center now stands, but then at the call of the railway station "Segni-Paliano", then called Segni-Station Colleferro Paliano after the birth of the town of Colleferro: a first group of houses (including the Church of St. Joachim) was built in the then territory of Valmontone

The engineer Leopoldo Parodi Delfino (former senator and son of the founder of the National Bank, then Bank of Italy

) and Senator Giovanni Bombrini founded the 'Bombrini Parodi Delfino explosives factory and, at the same location, was created a new group of houses known as "BPD Village", into which many workers moved their families from different regions of Italy. The town was also the "Lime & Cement Segni" (subsequently acquired by Italcementi

), which led to the valley floor and worked the material quarried from the nearby town of Segni

Colleferro, whose territory originally belonged to the municipalities of Valmontone (near the airport and part of the capital city) and of Rome, continued its urban sprawl for all Twenties and [ [Year 1930 | thirty]], until it became an independent town in 1935.
Later the town of Colleferro added to their territory limited portions of the neighboring municipalities of Segni and Paliano.

During WWII Colleferro was repeatedly bombarded with the aim to destroy the explosives factory. Citizens found shelter in a series of caves and tunnels built under the "Village BPD" and known by the name of "refugee."

As for the 'livestock, the environmental crisis had forced the slaughter of livestock and destruction of health protection for milk in all farms in the area. The farm has since rebounded with numerous protections for consumers.

The development of Colleferro is linked from the beginning to its industrial, with the opening of explosives Bombrini Parodi Delfino (BDP), to which were added numerous chemical plants and textile. The industrial area of Colleferro spread over 1000 hectares of land, mostly owned by Se.co.svim.
