Chaouchi was furious with Coffi's call for an Egyptian penalty kick which was badly executed by the Egyptian player that made him confront the referee and appeared to head butt him. Coffi showed Chaouchi only a yellow card for his behavior. However, Chaouchi eventually was sent off near the end of the match for his second yellow card. This incident and the subsequent suspension is likely part of the reason he was not included in the list of officials for the 2010 World Cup.
