, Cléo was spoted by C.D. Olivais e Moscavide who brouht him to Portugal in 2004. After one season playing in Portuguese lower leagues, he returned to Brazil and signed with Atlético Paranaense
playing with them in the 2005 and 2005 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A although he also had minor loan spells with Ferroviária and Figueirense
during 2005. In 2006 he moved back to Olivais e Moscavide playing two seasons with them, one of which in the 2006–07 Liga de Honra. In summer 2008 he called the attention of Red Star Belgrade
