The Conservative Party selected its parliamentary candidate in an 'open primary' on Wednesday 8 November. Applications were open to any member of the Conservative Party's priority list of approved candidates and to members of the standard list of approved candidates who claimed a local connection.
The two candidates in the final were Martin Vickers and Alan Lockwood. Martin Vickers won the selection in front of 100-130 people at Cleethorpes Constitutional Club.
Vickers is a councillor in Grimsby and fought the seat at the last General Election. He works as constituency agent to Edward Leigh
MP and was not on the priority list.
