. They were merged on March 28, 2005. The population of Chikusei City is about 110,000. There are two rivers in the city, Kinu-gawa and Kokai-gawa. The city is surrounded by nature. A well-balanced city, it develops farming, industry, and commerce. Special products of Chikusei city include koshihikari(rice), nashi (pears), small watermelons, cucumbers, strawberries, and tomatoes.
