. The high school serves students who attended Carey JHS, Alta Vista ES, Anderson ES, Baggs ES, Buffalo Ridge ES, Dildine ES, Henderson ES, and Saddle Ridge in Cheyenne. The current principal is Sam Mirich.

Academics

In addition to the AP programs found at East, it is also home to the International Baccalaureate program. This program is run by Brian Madland, with help from Dr. Ernie Duran. The International Baccalaureate program is an advanced curricular course that encompasses all of a students core classes.

Athletics

The East High School Football team won the state championship in 2007. The East Girl's Soccer Team also finished 2nd in the State in 2009. The East High Cheerleaders placed first in all-girl stunt and second in co-ed stunt in 2008 and 2010. The East High Lady Thunderbirds basketball team won the state title in 4A basketball against Laramie High School in 2010. In 2011, the Cheyenne East Boys Indoor Track team won the state title, with a one point victory over Laramie High School.

East's Primary sport rival is Cheyenne Central High School.

Drama

The Drama Department is led by Mrs. Kelley Bembry-Hennings. The State Drama team, under her direction, has won numerous acclamations each year at the State competition held in Casper, Wyoming.

Forensics

The forensics team is led by Mr. Michael Starks. The Speech and Debate team has placed in State and District Sweepstakes for the last eight years. The team also has Mr. Matt Prevedel (Extemporeaneous, Public Forum, and LD), Ms. Ashley Schulz (Interp. Events), and Ms. Sandy Patrick (CX Debate). The team has also had a long standing reputation in competitions it has attended, both in Wyoming and on a national level. Cheyenne East hosts a "Holiday Classic" every year right before Christmas vacation, schools from all over Wyoming and Colorado attend. In 2010, the team qualified ten individuals to go onto the Jazzin' It Up In KC National Competition, held in Kansas City, MO.

Marching Band

The Marching Band is headed up by Mr. Dan Holroyd and Ms. Jaxine Barhite along with two Drum Majors and section leaders for each instrument. The Cheyenne East Marching Band goes to the State Marching Festival every year and in recent years has scored the top possible score.
