. It is part of the Washington Township Public School District. The school opened in 1989. The principal is James Barns.

The school's mascot is a rasorback. The school colors are gold and black. The grades that attend the school range from 6-8 and are divided up into six "teams", with each grade having two teams, either C or R. Sixth grade has the 'Titans' and the 'Flames', seventh grade has the 'American heroes' and the 'Shining Stars', and eighth grade has the 'Dream Team' and 'Explorers'. Chestnut Ridge is one of three middle schools in Washington Township. The other two are Bunker Hill and Orchard Valley.

As of the 2004-05 school year, the high school had 231 students in 6th grade, 264 students in 7th grade, 250 students in 8th grade and 17 ungraded students. With 762 students and 69.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE

There is also a band, a chorus, and an orchestra where students get to perform in concerts for the school and go on exciting trips
