The line, which links the two places in its title was built by the Chemin de fer Montreux–Glion (MGl). Opened in 1909, at its upper terminus it made an end-on junction with the Chemin de fer Glion-Rochers-de-Naye

, begins to climb steeply almost as soon as it leaves the station and enters the first of many tunnels, changing direction by a series of loops, views of Lake Geneva alternating from side to side, before reaching the station at Glion.

Preservation

Two coaches from the opening of the line are preserved and are usually to be found at Glion. They are both Second / Third class composites with 56 seats in 7 compartments and were built in Luzern. They usually work with locomotive No.2, a class He 2/2 which is also usually to be found at Glion.
