Chebrolu, or Chebrole is a town

in the state of Andhra Pradesh

, located at 16°11′N 80°31′E. It is a major panchayat comprising three villages, Chebrolu, Pathareddypalem and Kothareddypalem and is the mandal headquarters. It was a regional fort for the Pallava, Chalukyas
and Kakatiya Empires. Its ancient name was Sambhole (from which 'Chebrolu' is derived). It became famous during the rule of the Kakatiyas, as a great general Jayapa ruled Chebrolu. Jayapa's sisters were married to Ganapatideva, the greatest Kakatiya emperor. Jayapa also wrote a famous treatise on Indian dance, Nrutyaratnavali.

Economy
The Chebrole economy is mostly agricultural based, although there are now institutions of higher education; red chilli, cotton and rice are major crops. In the last decade, spinning and rice mills have been providing employment to the youth of the region.Chebrole was also famous for its variety of tobacco used for cigars ('Chutta Pugaku') which is cultivated in a different kind of soil.
