Haim first spun 7" Soul records in 1964 in Paris. In 1968 he moved to the United States
and, in 1984, settled as a DJ in San Francisco. In 1989 he began using the stage name
"Cheb i Sabbah", which translates to "young of the morning". Five years later in 1994 he released his first album The Majoon Traveler.
Sabbah was nominated for the BBC's 2006 Award for World Music in the Club Global category.
Sabbah has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. A webpage has been created by supporters to collect contributions for medical treatments that Sabbah cannot afford due to a lack of health insurance.
