Controversy
It caused controversy when it first aired as some felt Cadman's character was too scantily clad for a children's television programme rumour has it the BBC press department 'accidentally' sent a more 'provocative' teaser to the press, provoking some tabloids to question it's morality.. No official complaints were ever lodged to the BBC however and if anything ratings were improved by the matter (further helped by the fact that Cadman was 22 when filming began rather than 15, the age of Cavegirl). The series first aired in the UK in Autumn 2002 and quickly became a hit with it's target 8 - 12 year old audience whilst also becoming a cult hit with teenagers and university students, running for two series, with a total of 38 episodes being made overall. The BBC quickly recognised Cavegirl's popularity and soon scheduled it on BBC1. It could be said to belong to the same metaseries as Harry and CoshHarry and Cosh
