Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps is a Drum Corps International
World Class (formerly Division I) drum and bugle corps
, based in Fort Mill, South Carolina
. The corps organization was founded in 1988 as the Charlotte Drum Corps Association, but the corps did not enter competition as Carolina Crown until the 1990 season. In 1993, Carolina Crown became the Drum Corps International Division II (now Open Class) Champions. Following that season, the corps moved to Division I, entering the Top 12 and performing at the DCI World Championship Finals for the first time in 1995.
The corps has continued to be a Finalist in every season since, except 2002. In August 2009 the corps received their highest placement in DCI Finals competition to date, registering a 2nd place finish.
With the Corps highest score ever of 97.50 and medaling for their first time ever in world class history, they have set standards for their future counterparts. Along with winning the Jim Ott brass caption award they also won the Fan Network Fan Choice award, which gave the audience a chance to choose their favorite corps on the field. Their show this season is entitled “Rach Star."
