In 2001, Alfaro relocated to Miami, Florida to become the Chief Technology Officer for Punto-Com magazine, the first internet industry magazine in Spanish. Later he joined Zoom Media Group, Inc. as CTO and was In charge of coordinating the programmer development team; responsible for selecting candidates for the web development team and project management for several website developments. Alfaro was also in charge of coordinating agreements with external consulting firms and for making purchasing decisions on the company's software and technology equipment. Alfaro was also the front-book editor for LOFT Magazine and was responsible for selecting, writing and editing the content for 12 lifestyle sections of the magazine. In 2005, Alfaro joined Page One Media, Inc. as Editor of Hispanic Trends magazine (with a circulation of 300,000 copies nationwide); in June 2006 he renamed and rebranded the publication under the name Hispanic Enterprise Magazine

. He was responsible for directing and editing the publication. During his role as editor, Alfaro started and organized two annual business conferences: Emerge targeted at Hispanic Emerging professionals and Hispana Leadership Summit a professional development event targeted at Hispanic businesswomen. Additionally, Alfaro organized the Hispanic Enterprise Best in Business awards and selected the editorial nomination committee. Alfaro also participated in nominating companies as well as individuals for the magazine's annual listings: Top 25 franchises for Hispanics, Top 50 Corporations for Supplier Diversity, Top 20 Latinas in Business and Top Hispanic Venture Capital Funds.

In June 2008 a successful acquisition of Hispanic Enterprise magazine by PODER Magazine was completed.

While working at PODER, Alfaro produced the online portions of the magazine's renowned content driven events working with partners like Columbia University
