History

After several seasons as an independent midget team, the CD Selects joined the Eastern Junior Hockey League

 (EJHL) in 1998 as a part time member, joining full time in 1999. The team has been owned and coached by former RPI coach Jim Salfi. The Selects Play out of the R.P.I Fieldhouse in Troy, New York. Capital District has a Junior "B" Club as well which plays in the Empire Junior "B" League which is the premier Junior "B" League in the United States. Since the 2002-2003 Season the Selects played in the Eastern Junior Hockey League's "South" Division, due to the Boston Junior Shamrocks being sold and moved to Philadelphia the Selects will play in the Eastern Junior Hockey League's "North" Division with Green Mountain Glades, New Hampshire Monarchs,Boston Junior Bruins, Valley Junior Warriors, Syracuse Stars and the New England Huskies
