After 25 years, in 1976, the membership totaled 800. Currently, the society has under 1,000 members. The current president is Dan Smith.

The The Canadian Geographer/ is the association's publication. Ian MacLachlan is the current editor. The CAG Newsletter is published four times a year; Valerie Shoffey is the editor.

The association presents several awards for outstanding service. These include:

  • Award for Service to the Profession of Geography
  • Award For Excellence In Teaching Geography
  • The Julian M. Szeicz Award for Early Career Achievement
