Campus SuperStar
is a spin-off
of Project SuperStar
, a popular singing talent-search competition in Singapore
. The contestants comprise students from secondary schools, junior colleges and Institutes of Technical Education
(ITEs). This is a little different from Project Superstar
, where contestants must be at least 18 years old to participate.
To mark this season first, the winner of the first season of Taiwanese singing competition One Million Star
, Yoga Lin
, will be the show's ambassador, after the success of the second season of SuperBand
to feature an ambassador.
To date, there have been 3 seasons of Campus SuperStar. This article is on Season 3.

The 1st Audition for Season 3 started on November 8, 2008 and November 9, 2008. The venue was at the MediaCorp

The top 12 was announced mid-December.
Ridhwan Azman is the only contestant to date whose race is different from the other contestants.

Adrian, the first contestant, appeared very nervous, and made a fatal mistake by forgetting part of his lyrics. This made most of the fellow contestants cry on stage, one of which was Jarod. Adrian only managed to scrape a score of 20.5 out of a possible 40.0.
Jarod, on the another hand managed to clinch a score of 31.5, making him the highest scorer to date. After the scores were announced, he cried because Adrian forgot his lyrics earlier. One of the judges, Xiao Han, gave him a respectable score of 9.5.

Ridhwan followed in Adrian's footsteps; he forgot part of his lyrics. As a result, he received a score of only 5.0 from Roy Loi. Xiao Han gave an encouraging score of 7.0, seeing that he's a non-Chinese and hence may have difficulty in remembering the lyrics, and also that Ridhwan was the only contestant in this episode who danced along with singing.

Jia Min edged out others in her scores due to her consistent performance. Jarod, the contestant with the highest score to date, unexpectedly scored lowest in this episode. Benita had an asthma attack at the Far East Plaza event last Saturday and that might have affected her performance. Generally, contestants chose the same genre of songs and judges commented that it was time to see contestants picking up other genres to challenge themselves.Jarod also escape from eliminated as he has the lowest mark for the night

Rachel Lim achieved an amazing score of 30.0 after a wonderful performance. She is the third person, after Jarod and Jia Min, to have ever obtained a score of at least 30. Format of this episode was also different, with the teachers whom the songs were dedicated to, invited on stage for an interview after each contestant's performance. Benita's teacher was the only one who were not able to attend due to overseas commitments, but the teacher pre-recorded a video.

Joselin started off by lifting the spirits high as she scored a respectable 28.0 from the judges, she is also the only contestant who invited her secondary school's vice-principal to the show to be the guest. Later, Jarod and Jia Min stomped the stage and clinched 29.5 and 34.5 respectively, Jia Min improved tremendously as she broke her personal record (previously 30.0 and 31.0). However, Jeremy sang off key in his song and was eventually eliminated.

For this Revival Round, guest judge Dawn Yip joined the judging team, bringing the maximum score each contestant can get to 50. Derrick Hoh
's performance in the Revival Round during Project Superstar
Season 1 got him a score of 39; as such, if the top scorer achieves a score of 39 or above, he/she is successfully revived without counting in the public voting component. Rachel Chua received a score of 40.5, which fulfills the requirements, and hence returned to the competition. As for the remaining 5 contestants, after considering both the judges' scores and public voting component, the top scorer Mavis Li Li was also revived.

In this episode, those who scored below 26.0 will enter the "Fail Zone", while the lowest scorer, Benita, who scored 24.0, was eliminated right at the live show. The other 2 lowest scorers, Mavis and Ridhwan entered the result show and Ridhwan was eliminated. Ridhwan also included a few phrases of Malay in his singing which was from the Malay version of his song. Jia Min emerged as the top again and hence lived up to her name in "30 and above club", the other 2 being Jarod and Rachel in previous episodes. However all that she sang were emotional songs, so judges commented that it was time for her to choose fast-paced songs.

In this episode the passing mark is 28.0, several contestants changed their usual style of singing and adopt a new genre to impress the judges, however most of them received bad comments, stating that the songs are suitable for them to sing, however after their performance, the judges feel that it is not suitable. Results were very close for Ai Jia, Jarod and Mavis, whom scored 30.5, 30.0 and 29.5 respectively, just 0.5 marks away from each other, however, Joselin performed the worst on that night, who was given 24.5 and was eliminated. Her song was intended to a friend of hers who had passed away some time back. At the results show, Rachel who was the next lowest scorer wasn't spared and was also eliminated.

In this episode, the passing mark is 30.0. All 4 contestants tried to perform the best in the semi-finals, as the next round will be the Grand Finals, Jarod once again came on top clinching 33.5, the highest scorer in this episode. However Mavis whom scored only 28.5, were booted out. In the results show, Rachel and Jia Min exchanged blows, and Jia Min who had the highest popularity votes were announced she will be going to Grand Finals with Jarod, thus, leaving Rachel Chua eliminated.

In this episode, instead on being taught by their usual teaching coach Peter Tan, the selected contestants will undergo a 1 week practice with the judges of the show. Deng Miao Hua is this week's special guest judge, while Rachel Chua's coach Jim Lim had to travel to Taiwan to help the Taiwanese singer Zhang Hui Mei in releasing her albums, thus, Cavin Soh, Jim's former boyband member represented Jim in this episode. Cavin is also a familiar person in this show, as he was selected to be the judge in the first season.
According to all the 5 judges, all of the contestants improved a lot. During the pre-results show, Rachel Chua who had the highest score of 42.5 was eventually revived. In the actual results show, Joselin who had the score of 39.0 was also revived. This is because of the huge gap between the 70% of the judging score, Joselin had 54.6% out of the possible 70.0%, Rachel Lim had 48.3%, whilst Benita Cheng collected the least 46.2%.

This is a bonding session between all contestants of the competition, whether they are the finalists or not. Though so, the main focus was on the Top 4 finalists. Voting lines will be open from 8pm to 9.30pm on each Monday. Each SMS/Telepoll call costs S$0.60, excluding GST and local traffic charges. According to the Terms & Conditions, voters under 18 years of age must seek parental consent, while pre-paid card holders and overseas phone lines will not be able to vote. Adrian, the first contestant, appeared very nervous, and made a fatal mistake by forgetting part of his lyrics. This made most of the fellow contestants cry on stage, one of which was Jarod. Adrian only managed to scrape a score of 20.5 out of a possible 40.0.
Jarod, on the another hand managed to clinch a score of 31.5, making him the highest scorer to date. After the scores were announced, he cried because Adrian forgot his lyrics earlier. One of the judges, Xiao Han, gave him a respectable score of 9.5.

Ridhwan followed in Adrian's footsteps; he forgot part of his lyrics. As a result, he received a score of only 5.0 from Roy Loi. Xiao Han gave an encouraging score of 7.0, seeing that he's a non-Chinese and hence may have difficulty in remembering the lyrics, and also that Ridhwan was the only contestant in this episode who danced along with singing.

Jia Min edged out others in her scores due to her consistent performance. Jarod, the contestant with the highest score to date, unexpectedly scored lowest in this episode. Benita had an asthma attack at the Far East Plaza event last Saturday and that might have affected her performance. Generally, contestants chose the same genre of songs and judges commented that it was time to see contestants picking up other genres to challenge themselves.Jarod also escape from eliminated as he has the lowest mark for the night

Rachel Lim achieved an amazing score of 30.0 after a wonderful performance. She is the third person, after Jarod and Jia Min, to have ever obtained a score of at least 30. Format of this episode was also different, with the teachers whom the songs were dedicated to, invited on stage for an interview after each contestant's performance. Benita's teacher was the only one who were not able to attend due to overseas commitments, but the teacher pre-recorded a video.

Joselin started off by lifting the spirits high as she scored a respectable 28.0 from the judges, she is also the only contestant who invited her secondary school's vice-principal to the show to be the guest. Later, Jarod and Jia Min stomped the stage and clinched 29.5 and 34.5 respectively, Jia Min improved tremendously as she broke her personal record (previously 30.0 and 31.0). However, Jeremy sang off key in his song and was eventually eliminated.

In this episode, those who scored below 26.0 will enter the "Fail Zone", while the lowest scorer, Benita, who scored 24.0, was eliminated right at the live show. The other 2 lowest scorers, Mavis and Ridhwan entered the result show and Ridhwan was eliminated. Ridhwan also included a few phrases of Malay in his singing which was from the Malay version of his song. Jia Min emerged as the top again and hence lived up to her name in "30 and above club", the other 2 being Jarod and Rachel in previous episodes. However all that she sang were emotional songs, so judges commented that it was time for her to choose fast-paced songs.

In this episode the passing mark is 28.0, several contestants changed their usual style of singing and adopt a new genre to impress the judges, however most of them received bad comments, stating that the songs are suitable for them to sing, however after their performance, the judges feel that it is not suitable. Results were very close for Ai Jia, Jarod and Mavis, whom scored 30.5, 30.0 and 29.5 respectively, just 0.5 marks away from each other, however, Joselin performed the worst on that night, who was given 24.5 and was eliminated. Her song was intended to a friend of hers who had passed away some time back. At the results show, Rachel who was the next lowest scorer wasn't spared and was also eliminated.

In this episode, the passing mark is 30.0. All 4 contestants tried to perform the best in the semi-finals, as the next round will be the Grand Finals, Jarod once again came on top clinching 33.5, the highest scorer in this episode. However Mavis whom scored only 28.5, were booted out. In the results show, Rachel and Jia Min exchanged blows, and Jia Min who had the highest popularity votes were announced she will be going to Grand Finals with Jarod, thus, leaving Rachel Chua eliminated.

In this episode, instead on being taught by their usual teaching coach Peter Tan, the selected contestants will undergo a 1 week practice with the judges of the show. Deng Miao Hua is this week's special guest judge, while Rachel Chua's coach Jim Lim had to travel to Taiwan to help the Taiwanese singer Zhang Hui Mei in releasing her albums, thus, Cavin Soh, Jim's former boyband member represented Jim in this episode. Cavin is also a familiar person in this show, as he was selected to be the judge in the first season.
According to all the 5 judges, all of the contestants improved a lot. During the pre-results show, Rachel Chua who had the highest score of 42.5 was eventually revived. In the actual results show, Joselin who had the score of 39.0 was also revived. This is because of the huge gap between the 70% of the judging score, Joselin had 54.6% out of the possible 70.0%, Rachel Lim had 48.3%, whilst Benita Cheng collected the least 46.2%.

Trivia
- The production team made an error during Stage 1; Shelly Tsai's school was displayed as Methodist Girls School instead of the supposed Hwa Chong International School. The error occurred during Shelly's first performance.
- The first contestant of the very first round, Adrian Jorge, forgot part of his lyrics, resulting in his early departure.
- Ridhwan Azman followed in Adrian Jorge's footsteps as he also forgot part of his lyrics during his very first round. But unlike Adrian, Ridhwan managed to stay on in the competition.
- In the first six rounds of competition, Adrian, Mavis, Shelly and Rachael who were eliminated had the call number of C1. Whilst on Episode 4 and 6, Ai Jia and Jeremy had the call number of C2 and C4 respectively. In Episode 4, Host Yuan Shuai commented that this 'curse' was finally broken when Benita was not eliminated.
- Rachel Chua became the first contestant to date to be eliminated and revived twice in this competition.
