Ngee Ann Polytechnic

Ngee Ann Polytechnic is an institute of higher learning in Singapore, founded in 1963 as Ngee Ann College with 116 students. It was subsequently renamed Ngee Ann Technical College in 1968, before adopting its current name in 1982.
The Polytechnic has an enrolment of about 15,000 full-time students, 3000 part-time students and an alumni community of about 1,200,000.
The campus is spread over 35 hectares at the fringe of the upmarket Bukit Timah residential district.
The Polytechnic offers 49 full-time Diploma courses through seven academic schools.
There are nine courses affiliated with EBM:
Students from all faculties are required to take up Interdisciplinary Studies modules in each of the five domains: Communications, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, Media and the Arts, Science and Technology.
The Continuing Education and Training Academy offers courses and training programmes for professional upgrading and retraining. The Centre trains more than 5,000 people annually through 300 courses each year.

The only course that does not require students to have their own notebook computers is Health Sciences (Nursing). However, Nursing students are required to own a PDA.
Students enrolled in Film and Media Studies courses, as well as those enrolled in the Audio-Visual Technology(EE) and Multimedia and Animation(ICT) courses are required to own Apple notebook computers.

Engineering with business management programme
To give students the flexibility to make their choice only at the end of the first semester in Year 1, Ngee Ann’s School of Engineering offers the Engineering with Business Management programme (EBM). Up to 25% of the curriculum is made up of business modules offered by NP's School of Business and Accountancy.There are nine courses affiliated with EBM:

School of Interdisciplinary Studies (IS)
The school of Interdisciplinary Studies offers modules taken by full time students that are outside their field of study. The CET Academy (CET)
The CET Academy was launched by the Acting Minister for Manpower Mr. Gan Kim Yong on 21 October 2008. The use of notebook computers has become an integral part of the learning experience in Ngee Ann. It gives students the flexibility to work on assignments, surf the Internet for information, access module web-sites, participate in online discussions, and communicate with tutors and classmates through email at convenience, both on and off campus.
