The Cage Wars Championship is a UK-based mixed martial arts
promotion started in 1999 to promote and teach the sport of MMA in the UK and Ireland. Its first event was held in February 2002.
, Remco Pardoel, Josh Dempsey, Jess Liaudin, Cyrille Diabate, Samy Schiavo, Paul Jenkins, David Patterson and Mark 'The Bear' Smith amongst others. The next Cage Wars event to be held was a few months later in London on May 15, 2002, 2 months before the first UFC event in the UK. This event featured Jess Liaudin
, Marcos da Silva, Kamal Locke, Graham Turner, Cyrille Diabate and Francisco Bueno.
Cage Wars then turned its attention to Ireland with Cage Wars 3 being hosted in Galway. Notable fighters on this card included Joachim Hansen, Rafles La Rose, Greg Loughran and Lars Besand.
In 2007 Cage Wars began to hold their events in larger venues such as The Braehead Arena in Glasgow and The Kings Hall and Odyssey Arena in Belfast. This reflected the growing popularity of the sport of MMA and Cage Wars.
Cage Wars featured prominently in an early MMA documentary Underdogs by LA film director Bobby Razak and the programme was well received.
At the end of 2008 Cage Wars produced an MMA lifestyle social network at thefightfactory.eu. This was a website that looked at the whole of the world of MMA, as well as covering lifestyle interests of MMA fans.
Since 2008 Cage Wars has been available on a number of channels in the USA, Asia and the UK.
Well known boxing and fitness equipment manufacturer Everlast
started to take an interest in the MMA market in 2009 and joined with Cage Wars as their official MMA partner.
