. The school is with 29 classes for around 1200 youths aged from 11 to 20. The intake of student is a majority of Band 1. English has been adopted to be the medium of instruction for most subjects. At present, the College has 57 teachers. All of them have obtained masters or bachelors degrees or a Certificate of Education.

History

Campus and Facilities

The 6-storey main building of the College has won an architectural design award. There are 26 standard classrooms, 13 special rooms, a school library and other multi-purpose rooms. From September 2005, a new wing had been built for school development.

School Mission

Inheriting the spirit of "Serving & Preaching through Schooling" from HKCCCC, our school aims to promote a holistic education, addressing the moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual needs of our students -- "To nurture virtues; To strive for excellence; To glorify God; To serve mankind".

School Organization

Under the guidance of the Board of Directors, the School Management Committee (composed of School Supervisor, Principal, Vice-Principals, representatives of teachers, parents, alumni and the C.C.C.) was set up in 1998 to supervise school operation and set targets and priorities of school development.

The Student Association, the Parent-Teacher Association and the Alumni Association are autonomous bodies but work closely with the College to get the students, parents and graduates involved in school operation.

The SMC has been formed and empowered by the HKCCCC to manage, administer and operate the school in accordance with the regulations under the Code of Aid for Secondary Schools and in compliance with all stipulations provided by the Education Bureau for implementation of school-based management.

  1. School Green Policy: We fully support environmental protection. Besides collecting used paper for recycling, we encourage teachers as well as students to use both sides of paper and make good use of technology to reduce the consumption of paper. Moreover, we hold various recycling activities, such as collecting old clothes. We observe the principle of simplicity and put it into practice in our daily life.

Whole-school Language Policy

Our school is an EMI school. To enhance students' bi-literate and tri-lingual ability, students are encouraged to speak in both Putonghua and English when making announcements or doing promotions at school.

Learning & Teaching Strategies

Learning & Teaching: Various exchange programs are arranged to set their eyes worldwide and achieve whole-person development. Policy on Curriculum: We put much stress on the bridging between the junior and senior curriculum; therefore, we always encourage all subjects to update their curricular frequently so as to meet current needs. At the same time, our teaching staff's professionalism is enhanced as well. Support Measures for Academically Gifted/under-privileged Students: Remedial classes and enhancement learning groups for English language and Mathematics are offered. To help students gain good results, we run tutorial and enhancement classes after school, and carry out "Aiming at A Scheme". Planning for the New Senior Secondary (NSS) Curriculum: An NSS development committee has been formed to develop the action plan of the NSS curriculum including subjects selection policy and timetabling arrangements. It also implement, monitor and evaluate the NSS curriculum, as well as coordinating the requirement of School-based Assessment among different subjects.The Life Education Committee has set some guidelines for learning experience and fine-tuned them for the needs of the curriculum.

Applied Learning & other learning experience etc

Students may apply for learning courses provided by different educational institutions. Other learning experience includes cultural exchanges, visits to rural areas in China, community service and job shadowing, etc. Senior Secondary curriculum including Combined Arts will be provided. Extra-curricular activities offer all kinds of sports activities and interest groups.

Four Key Tasks

  1. Reading to Learn: To broaden interest in reading, each student is asked to write at least one book review within the school year. S.5 to S.7 classes watch English TV news on the Internet (HKedCity website) twice per week for enriching their English language, worldwide knowledge and caring for society. For the rest of the week, students read their own favourite reading materials (except textbooks) in the reading session. Our school library emphasizes and promotes heavily the Reading Award Scheme. All S.1 to S.3 students are required to join the Reading Award Scheme, which aims at helping them develop a lifelong reading habit.
  2. Interactive Learning through I.T.: To enhance students' motivation for active learning, students are encouraged to use the E-forum for discussion in various subjects. The increasing number of questions raised by students concerning their homework has shown that this medium does foster students' self-learning ability. Moreover, online tests have also been introduced. With continuous formative assessment, the learning progress of each student is closely monitored. Marking schemes or suggested solutions to quizzes and assignments are posted on the website.
  3. Project Learning: Students are equipped with the project learning skills through I.T. curriculum and complete subject-based project learning to enhance their independent learning ability and generic skills. 4.Moral and Civic Education: To help students make sensible decisions about their further studies or careers, visits, workshops, seminars, tests, exhibitions and a mentorship scheme are arranged across different forms.

Teaching & Learning in Information Technology

Their school is equipped with advanced technology facilities. Effective learning can be enhanced with three multi-media learning centres. All classrooms are equipped with a broadband network and a wireless school net covers the whole school campus. All subjects have their guidelines to enhance interactive learning and teaching using I.T. Our new campus TV produces a lot of programmes which enhance Teaching & Learning.

Development of Generic Skills

Students are nurtured to acquire communication skills, creativity and critical thinking skills as well as self-learning ability. We endeavor to develop students' potential to the full and broaden their horizons through formal plus informal learning experience.

Whole School Approach to Catering for Students’ Diverse Learning Needings

They have a Life Education Committee to help students to deal with their emotional, communication and family problems when they grow up. A tailored syllabus and different teaching strategies are provided for diverse learning needs. We help students to find their motivation to learn, to build up their self-image, and to be positive about life. We make full use of all available resources to provide an all-round education and indicate ways to learn so that students are able to maintain life-wide learning.

Curriculum Tailoring and Adaptation for Learning and Assessment

Their school adopts a continuous assessment policy. Other than examinations, uniform tests are scheduled for S.1 to S.5 students. Each department has its own school-based assessment policy providing fair and appropriate assessment.

Policy on Class Promotion/Detention

Meetings are held to discuss in detail if students who cannot meet the requirements set for conduct and academic work should repeat. Although detailed criteria have been set by the Academic Affairs Committee, we care for every student and make sure that their different needs are considered.

Home-School Co-operation

The Parents-Teachers' Association, formed in 1993, plays a crucial role in acting as a liaison between parents and the school. To support moral and life education, many parents volunteer to give assistance to the junior forms' service education.

School Ethos

Their strive for a simple school life with harmonious relationships between teachers and students. Students are provided with a religious education and activities to learn about Christianity and its values. Taking teachers as their models, students learn how to respect, reflect upon and appreciate their lives. This positive attitude towards life helps create a harmonious school and community.

In order to enhance teaching professionalism, teachers are provided with a variety of staff development activities such as seminars, workshops and training courses by the Staff Development Committee.

Their school works in collaboration with the EDB School-based Support Services Team. To enhance teaching professionalism, we invite professors from different institutions to share their experience and insights during staff development activities. Moreover, professionals are invited to be speakers at school events to enlighten our students and teachers by sharing their life experience.

School healthy life

Their school promotes a simple but healthy life style. They encourage students to participate in various sports activities, such as the annual Rope-skipping Competition, which conveys a message that a balanced diet and rope skipping keep them healthy.
